City Cemetery
The City Cemetery is located at 2229 N 1420 Road. The cemetery is owned and operated by the City of Eudora. The cemetery is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM for visitors. Vehicles are permitted on the driveways within the cemetery only and the speed limit is 15 miles per hour.
Purchasing a Cemetery Plot
Anyone interested in purchasing a plot in the Eudora Cemetery should contact the City by calling (785) 542-2153 Option 3 or visiting City Hall during regular business hours. You can also set up an appointment with City staff to meet out at the City Cemetery to pick out a plot if desired. Pricing for plots and opening/closing services are detailed below. Once a plot is purchased, a deed is provided to convey that piece of land to the individual for burial purposes only. That deed is subject to rules and regulations by the City.
Opening & Closing Plots
The City must receive notice at least 24 hours in advance of a burial from April 1 to October 31, and 48 hours from November 1 to March 31. Monday morning openings require notice to be given by noon (12:00 PM) of the preceding Thursday.
Grave Decorations
Prohibited Decorations
The following decorations/landscaping are prohibited: bushes, plantings of floral pieces (either annual or perennial), fences, benches, hedges, shrubbery, trees, and any other landscaping or enclosures. Any annual or perennial floral pieces planted by persons will be the sole responsibility of the persons doing the planting, including watering and weeding. If the grave site becomes unkempt as determined by the City, the plantings will be removed.
Summer Months
During the summer months (April 1 to November 15), the following grave decorations are allowed: fresh flowers, plants, artificial wreaths or flowers, and shepherd hooks (plant holders). Decorations must be placed within the concrete foundation or on the monument or markers, except for Memorial Day. Any grave site decorated in a non-conforming fashion is the sole responsibility of the persons who decorated the grave. All upkeep, including moving, watering, and weeding then become the responsibility of those persons. If the grave site becomes unkempt, City staff will restore the site to standard regulations. Any floral pieces must be planted in pots, not buried.
For a period of five days proceeding and 14 days following Memorial Day, the above-mentioned type of arrangement may be placed on graves provided they are in containers other than glass or pottery and set close to the monument or marker. City personnel will be permitted to remove all items after this period. Flowers and arrangements will be removed upon deterioration throughout the year. The city will not be held accountable or responsible for any items placed or removed.
Winter Months
During the winter months (November 16 to March 31), all permanent metal vases must be placed in the inverted position to prevent breakage. The city will not be held accountable or responsible for damaged vases. All flowers, decorations, wreaths, etc. wished to be salvaged must be removed by November 16. After that date, city personnel will be permitted to remove all such items.

The most up-to-date pricing can found in the City's Master Fee Schedule, which is updated annually.
