Community Development Block Grant - COVID-19

Community Development Block Grant - COVID-19 Opens in new window

The Kansas Department of Commerce was awarded $9 million dollars through the CARES Act. That money is available to cities and counties across Kansas to help support local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Information about the program can be found on their website

The City of Eudora has applied for the maximum amount for individual cities - $300,000. Eligible businesses in Eudora will be able to submit an application to the city for a portion of that money.

The City and the Eudora Chamber of Commerce are working together to determine guidelines for distributing the funds. The amount of funds available to businesses is dependent on the number of jobs retained per business.

For businesses with 1-5 employees, up to $25,000 per full-time equivalent (FTE) employee can be awarded, with a maximum funding of $30,000 per company. For businesses with 6-50 employees, up to $35,000 per FTE can be awarded, with a maximum funding of $50,000 per company.

The Department of Commerce has created an overview for the program and an FAQ page about the program on their website

They also hosted a virtual Q&A on May 14, 2020. You can find the video of that discussion here - it may answer many of your questions.

Please keep an eye on this page and the City’s Facebook page for updates. Information and updates are released regularly. The City and the Chamber are working quickly to make sure Eudora and our businesses are well-positioned to receive these funds.
