About the Police Department

As a Law Enforcement Agency, the City of Eudora Police Department’s fundamental responsibilities are to serve the public, safeguard lives and property, and to respect the Constitutional rights of all people. The Police Department recognizes the badge it wears as a symbol of public faith and trust to be guarded and honored in its everyday service to the community. The Police Department philosophy that best serves its officers and helps the department to move to a continued higher level of professionalism is based on trust, teamwork, commitment to duty, and the confidence for every officer to achieve their goals.

In order for the department to support the goal of “commitment to duty” from each employee, it is critical that the department has in practice an “open door policy” not only for the officers to abide by, but to the General Public.  This encourages interaction, discussion, and suggestions by everyone in order to make a more effective and efficient police department in the City of Eudora. Other responsibilities include:

  • Animal control

  • Investigations

  • Municipal Court

  • Patrol and traffic enforcement
